Lot Description

135.8 grains. Deep steel brown over most of the surface with some ruddy mahogany tones seen in places. Microporous throughout with some more aggressive roughness around the upper reverse rim, but this is not serious enough to be too distracting. A couple of natural planchet flaws are also noted, with that at 6 o'clock on the obverse being the most prominent. Unusually sharp for the variety, with the face of the effigy completely delineated, while on many, these details fade into the field to varying degrees, sometimes completely. Very nice detail and eye appeal for this scarce variety.
