Losbeschreibung
A fresh and attractive GEM housed in an old NGC "fatty" holder. This is a very popular variety, sort of considered the last CC dollar struck, seven years after the mint shut down. A leftover reverse die prepared for the Carson City mint was shipped to New Orleans as the southern branch mint churned out millions of silver dollars each year. The original CC mintmark was only partially effaced, and remnants can be seen flanking the O. Both sides of this lustrous GEM are framed by a multihued mix of orange-gold, teal-blue, and coppery-red patina, surrounding brilliant silver in the centers. Nicely struck and high end quality for the assigned grade, the eye appeal is excellent. PCGS 934, NGC 180. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $2,750 and the two most recent NGC-graded examples sold for $2,160 and $1,860; neither of those were as attractive as this GEM. A lovely coin for the collector of toned dollars. Good luck. Cert. Number 18127811 PCGS # 7268
