- This pleasing piece offers superior quality and eye appeal in a lightly circulated example of the type. Rich olive-copper patina is nestled within and among the design elements and gives way to warmer rose-brown elsewhere, the interplay between the two colors providing a desirable circulated cameo appearance. The strike is ideally centered on a round, generally well made planchet that reveals only light, natural roughness in areas when examined under magnification. Softness is confined to the central obverse, reverse at and around the saint's head, and it is of minimal concern given the overall bold definition seen on both sides. A trace of the brass splasher remains, centered on the left side of the crown. The type collector in need of a nice St. Patrick farthing would be wise to pursue this EF with the intent of securing it.
