Lot Description
1796 Draped Bust Quarter. B-2. Rarity-3. High 6. Genuine--Code 84, Holed and/or Plugged (PCGS). The United States' first quarter dollar and the sole issue of the Draped Bust, Small Eagle type, the 1796 is eagerly sought at all levels of preservation. A more affordable offering for the type collector, this piece is hold and plugged at 4 o'clock on the obverse, that side of the coin also quite bright from cleaning and/or light tooling. A mostly toned reverse exhibits silver-lilac patina in all areas save for where the plug is located. Wear is heavy throughout, the reverse nearly smooth but the obverse with a bold date and Liberty's portrait near fully outlined. A suitable ""filler"" for an issue that increases substantially in price as one advances up the numismatic grading scale. Fair-AG Details.
