Lot Description

Lustrous medium golden-honey surfaces are frosty in texture with faint traces of pinkish-apricot iridescence. The individual strands of Liberty's hair are soft and largely indistinct, but central strike detail on the reverse is superior for the type. The brief and relatively scarce Type II gold dollar of 1854 to 1856 is a significant find at all levels of Mint State preservation.
