- This Gem displays a blend of deep charcoal-blue, sandy-gray and antique gold patina on satiny lustrous surfaces. The strike is razor sharp throughout, and the surfaces are as nice was would be expected at the Gem Mint State grade level. Produced after the Mint adopted the Open 3 date logotype, but before the Act of February 12, 1873 modified the weight of the quarter, only 172,000 of the 1873 No Arrows, Open 3 issue were struck. Even so, well worn examples in grades up to and including VF are obtainable with patience, but finer circulated and Mint State examples are scarce to rare and seldom encountered in today's market. As one of the finest survivors known to PCGS and CAC, this important Gem is sure to see spirited bidding among advanced collectors of Liberty Seated coinage.
