Lot Description

Most of the 600 Proof half dollars that the Mint produced in 1868 were distributed as part of the year's Proof sets, although a few may have been sold individually to contemporary collectors. Although many of these have survived, a carefully preserved and visually appealing Gem such as the virtually brilliant specimen offered here is a scarce find in today's market.
