- 1854-D Three-Dollar Gold Piece. EF-45 (PCGS). OGH. Bright yellow gold with a generous amount of mint luster in the protected areas. Modestly circulated but free of marks that draw the unassisted eye. Highly desirable and equally respected for its mintage of just 1,120 pieces, and for the fact that it is the only Dahlonega Mint issue of the design type. Peripheral weakness present in the dentils, a diagnostic for all genuine 1854-D three-dollar gold pieces. Die clash present at Liberty's neck. An undeniably choice example of the date and grade combination, and a specimen that will certainly see strong bidding activity.
