Lot Description

1842-O Liberty Half Eagle. VF-30 (PCGS). Deep honey-gold with warm orange toning highlights. Evenly circulated but only minimally marked, with most of the blemishes only found under low magnification. A modest figure of just 41 1845-O half eagles have been certified by PCGS in the VF-30 to the Mint State range, a tally that includes just one Mint State coin; indeed, PCGS suggests that fewer than 100 examples of the date can be accounted for today. Coins from the New Orleans Mint tended to stay in the "Big Easy," where they spent considerable time in circulation. A solid opportunity for a half eagle collector. PCGS# 8212.
