1850 N-4 R1. PCGS graded MS-65 Brown. CAC.Lustrous bluish steel brown and light olive with faded mint red in protected areas on both sides, especially on the reverse. The surfaces are satiny and this cent has excellent eye appeal. No spots or stains, just a few tiny ticks from flawless. The notable ones are a small nick on the cheek left of the ear and a thin nick left of the peak of the 1. E-MDS, die state a late. The line up from star 9 is dull but visible. In addition there is a shallow low spot over CENT (caused by debris or lubricant on the die). Our grade is MS63,tied for CC#1 honors with 3 other pieces in the Grellman census. Previously housed in an NGC holder graded MS64RB (NGC label #1841225-015) but the red has faded too much to rate the RB designation today. PCGS population 3; none finer.(PCGS # 405871) Value $1,400 - UP
