Lot Description

This is a very pleasing CHOICE example for the grade. Pleasing and original with a rich olive-gray in the fields and a lighter silver-gray at the highest points. Sharply struck with bold central definition remaining despite the circulation, the surfaces are free of any flaw obtained during its use in early federal period circulation and the eye appeal is truly a delight to behold. PCGS 67, NGC 34, CAC 16. Going back to 2009, only a half dozen PCGS/CAC examples have ever sold, ranging from $9,120 to $12,925, the most recent selling for $10,200. While the Collectors Universe value is held down by the non-CAC examples, listed at $6,500, the CAC CPG value is $11,900.
