- Tompkins Die Stage 1/1, Rea et al. Die State P. Scarcest die marriage of the issue after only B-5, the 1820 Browning-1 shares its obverse with B-2; the reverse is unknown in any other pairings. The NorthEast Collection specimen sits just outside of the 2010 Rea-Peterson-Karoleff-Kovach census, which descends in grade down to EF-45. It is a richly and deeply toned steely-charcoal and sandy-rose example with lighter pewter gray design elements. A pleasing circulated cameo appearance is seen. Sharply defined for the grade, this is a handsome example of a challenging Browning number that will catch the eye of specialists.
