With faint marbling of deep copper-rose color to otherwise steel-brown surfaces. Wispy marks are noted, especially in the left obverse field, and there are a few tiny edge nicks at the upper right obverse and upper reverse. Border denticulation is indistinct in areas, but all major design elements are boldly defined for the grade. Sheldon-4 is one of the Fallen 6 varieties of the 1796 Liberty Cap cent, so named because the 6 in the date in noticeably low relative to the other digits. Breen Die State III.
