1853-FD Octagonal $1. BG-505. Rarity-4. Liberty Head. AU-50 (PCGS). OGH. Reeded or plain edge. Deep yellow gold with a definitive olive glow. Lightly and evenly worn with no marks that assail the viewer's eye. The first of the Frontier, Deviercy issues with the beaded circle reverse that replaced the "Humbert Eagle" style reverse. Maker's mark, FD, on reverse at bottom rim, inverted G in GOLD. Die State II: "Reverse polished, GOLD and ORN fragmented, beads smaller." PCGS# 10482. Provenance: From the Ronald Lyle Collection.
