Lot Description

Polychromatic toning adorns both the obverse and reverse of this premium grade Gem Mint State 1904 dollar. While collectors of toned Morgans know that there are certain issues that are often seen with gorgeous coloration, they know that the 1904 is not one of them. Rich golds, deep purple, magenta-rose, cobalt and Caribbean blues, and lime green mingle in wavy rings on both the obverse and reverse, with the latter side more colorful and dramatic. Strong luster belies the toning, accenting the bold spectrum of variegated shades in between. A true rarity among toned Morgan dollars, and a coin that the afficionado will appreciate at first glance.
