B-3. Rarity-2. Finer than usually encountered for a 53, the details are sharply defined, and there is ample, pleasing patina. Shades of gold, russet, olive, and slate blend together over smooth, semi-glossy surfaces. Both sides may have been wiped ages ago, but now recovered. Struck from a very late obverse die state with a bold die break through star 12 into the hair curls. PCGS 15, NGC 10. The last one to sell in auction was back in September 2013, which was no where near as sharp, nor did it have the stronger overall eye appeal of the presently offered coin.
