Lot Description: Manley Die State 2.0. Nice steely olive-brown patina with hints of medium golden-brown where mint color was last to fade. This is a well struck coin for the type, boldly to sharply defined throughout. The texture is hard, frosty, and impressively smooth for the grade with only a few trivial, well scattered marks.<p>Despite its attribution number, Cohen-1 is the final variety of 1805 half cent struck, which Bill Eckberg (2019) asserts was delivered in December of that year. It is readily attributable as the only Stemless Wreath variety of the date, the reverse shared with the 1804 C-13 and 1806 C-1 Stemless Wreath varieties. With upward of 2,500 coins believed extant (again per Eckberg), the 1805 C-1 is the most frequently encountered variety of the issue, although Mint State coins such as this are scarce in an absolute sense and rare relative to market demand.
