Lot Description
One of the FINEST graded examples of this low mintage proof date. AMAZING watery mirrors have a quicksilver look to them, dancing under wonderful and totally original iridescent teal, lilac, sea-green, orange-gold, and rose toning. The eye appeal and technical qualities are all beyond what you would expect, even for a coin of this lofty grade! We are not exactly sure why CAC did not sticker this SUPERB GEM, it certainly looks worthy of CAC approval! Only 543 were struck. PCGS 5, NGC 7. The last two examples we sold brought between $10,000 and $11,000 but they were both CAC. Regardless, this MONSTER GEM should bring a price close to the current PCGS value of $10,000. NONE ARE FINER in the designation, making this a real prize for the collector of Proof Barber dimes! Cert. Number 35346785 PCGS # 4895
