- 1819/(8) Matron Head Cent. N-2. Rarity-1. Large Date. MS-64 RB (PCGS). CAC. This delightful near-Gem retains plenty of original pinkish-rose color beneath an overlay of iridescent medium brown toning. A later die state, the strike is bold over most major design elements, although many of the finer features in the stars, portrait and wreath are blunt and isolated border areas are nearly devoid of denticulation. Smooth and satiny in hand, this is a wonderfully original and conditionally scarce example of a popular overdate variety from the early Matron Head cent series. Noyes Die State C/B. PCGS# 36632.
