This handsome piece is boldly toned in steely-brown and light olive with traces of faded pinkish-rose mint color still very much in evidence. The texture is softly frosted, both sides with a smooth appearance in the absence of significant marks. The high points of Liberty's bust are softly struck, affecting the opposing areas in the reverse wreath, but the overall design is fully appreciable. Thanks to a hoard dispersed by S.H. and H. Chapman circa 1906, the 1806 C-4 is one of the more available Draped Bust half cent varieties in Mint State. The present offering will certainly appeal to both high grade type collectors and advanced early copper enthusiasts. Manley Die State 2.0.
