Description du lot
Only a single die pair, C-1, was used to strike all 56,500 half cents struck in 1855. This is an exceptional quality GEM tied for SECOND FINEST seen in the RD category at PCGS with just a single MS66 RD graded finer. The brilliant mint red surfaces gleam with a flaming vivacity on both sides. The Christian Gobrecht design types are razor sharp in strike, though there is some softness at the rim. The eye appeal is superb. PCGS 9, NGC 1. The most recent example to sell in auction realized realized $5,494 in November 2020, but this coin has a better look overall. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $11,000. Obviously nothing finer has sold in a major auction. Bound for a fantastic type or date set of half cents. It will bring a strong price. Cert. Number 43373200 PCGS # 1235
