1839-D. NGC graded MS-61.Frosty and mostly untoned. Softly struck on the reverse, as typcially seen on this prized Dahlonega issue. The surfaces show scattered light marks when closely examined, as expected for the choice grade assigned. This is a true condition rarity at this lofty grade level, as precious few came down to us in Mint condition, especially so this nice. This is also the final year of production for the Classic Head gold coins, and the D mintmark resides on the obverse right above the date.
