This lovely example is dressed in iridescent toning of silver-mauve, pinkish-apricot and powder blue. Satiny mint luster is full and intense, and the strike detail is expectably sharp for the issue. Writing in the 1997 reference <em>The Top 100 Morgan Dollar Varieties: The VAM Keys</em>, Michael S. Fey and Jeff Oxman report: "The VAM 10 is the 'stopper' of the 1880-S Overdate set and is quite desirable."
