Lot Description

1787 Machin's Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 21-II-87D-II, W-7970. Rarity-4. GEORGIVS III. EF-45 (PCGS). 111.3 grains. Very attractive dark chocolate brown with pleasing gloss and eye appeal. Boldly detailed for the die variety, the devices richly defined on faintly granular surfaces. The reverse shows a couple of scrapes around the date and a vertical scrape behind the seated figure in the vicinity of a pit below A. A linear flaw is present above RGI of GEORGIVS, dies clashed, most evident atop the reverse. A handsome example.
