Lot Description

1796 BB-66, B-1. Rarity-4. Small Date, Small Letters. EF-45 (NGC). Attractive violet-tinted deep gray with dark golden halos around some design elements and blue undertones on the reverse. A sharp dollar with much of the eagle’s breast feathers and head detail remaining, not always seen at the EF level. There is some granularity at central obverse and reverse, rather typical for the issue, and some parallel planchet striations and faint granularity are seen elsewhere too, especially inside the rims. A thin old scratch joins star 5 to the back of Liberty’s hair, some other scattered marks, no rim flaws or heavy digs. Always popular, especially when encountered with so much detail.
