- 1854 Liberty Head Half Eagle. MS-63 (PCGS).
Noteworthy preservation is notable on this otherwise readily obtainable 1850s half eagle issue. Blended rose-gold color and satin to softly frosted luster are seen on fully Choice surfaces that display a bold to sharp strike. The 1854 is a surprise rarity in Mint State despite its status as a Philadelphia Mint issue with a relatively generous mintage of 160,675 pieces. Survivors are seldom offered with the quality and eye appeal of this present example. Sure to catch the attention of astute gold collectors.
Provenance: From the Fairmont Collection-Hendricks Set.
PCGS Population: 8; 5 finer (MS-64 finest).
PCGS# 8256. NGC ID: 25UG.
