Lot Description

Heck DS1, Breen Die State I. Attractive medium walnut-brown patina with glints of deeper olive and steel-rose most notable in the protected areas around and among the design elements. Nice and glossy, the surfaces present as pleasingly smooth both during in-hand viewing and under closer scrutiny with the aid of magnification. A short, thin strike though meanders through the wreath to the right of the letter T in CENT and serves as a useful identifier. The lower obverse border is devoid of denticulation, but otherwise this is a well struck and boldly defined Liberty Cap cent at the PCGF EF-40 level. Previously ranked tied for CC#25 for the Sheldon-29 dies at <em>1794largecents.com</em>, although the census listing at that website is no longer accessible as of this writing.
