- Breen Die State III. Universally sharp in detail at the assigned grade level, even the all-important repunching to the digit 6 that identifies this obverse die is clearly discernible with the aid of magnification. Both sides are warmly and evenly toned in chocolate-brown with hints of golden-tan. Microscopic roughness to the texture is noted for accuracy, as are a few identifying scratches, two of which are on Liberty's portrait and form an X in the center of the obverse. These marks are light and old, however, and they are nicely blended into the overall fabric of the coin. As with so many of the large cents in the Widmer Family Collection, their Sheldon-105 is a famous one that is comfortably within the Condition Census for the variety. Del Bland ranks it CC#4 with an EAC grade of VF30, net F15, while Noyes assigns the same EAC grades with a ranking of CC#2 in his census.
