Lot Description

A wholly original example of this popular commemorative. The obverse depicts Ira Allen, the brother of famed Revolutionary War hero Ethan Allen, who founded the Republic of Vermont in 1777, following the Battle of Bennington. Well struck and possessing frosty, near-flawless surfaces on both sides, this Superb Gem ranks among the finest graded at either service. Rich peripheral toning highlights a pearlescent shimmer in the centers. Very rare in this lofty state of preservation, this is a perfect example for a high ranking NGC Registry Set.
