Lot Description

1857-C Liberty Half Eagle. Winter Variety 1 (25-J), the only known dies. AU-58 (NGC). Handsome rose-gold color blankets both sides of this lightly worn, yet still sharply defined example. Ample evidence of a satiny, slightly granular texture is also noted, especially when the coin dips into a light. With no singularly distracting abrasions, this is an appealing '57-C Five at the threshold of full Mint State quality.
