Lot Description

Ex: Pittman Collection. One of the few quarter eagles struck this year and exceptional near-Mint quality too. The issue was limited to a mere 640 pieces as demand and production nearly came to a halt. Survivors are scarce to rare, and higher grade pieces such as this one, of course are the most prized. Light wear shows overall from a short stint in circulation. For pedigree identifiers, we see a small planchet void in the right obverse field, and a lateral scratch in the right reverse field into the eagle's wing. Still, good overall appeal for this rare date. (PCGS 7833)
