Lot Description

1942/1 Mercury Dime. FS-101. MS-65 (PCGS). Mostly brilliant and fully lustrous for this exciting overdate issue. The rims exhibit a dusting of light russet-gold toning, while the centers tend to be fully bright. As to the strike it shows boldness on the obverse and nearly enough for the full bands on the reverse, but the central stripe is welded in just a couple of small areas. Naturally the surfaces are free of all but minute signs of contact, and this is easily one of the finest to survive as Gems are quite rare. By far most of these overdates are in circulated grades, and this coin is destined to be a major highlight in an advanced collection.
