Lot Description

1833 Classic Head Half Cent. C-1, the only known dies. Rarity-1. MS-63 RB (PCGS). A gorgeous Choice example with dominant medium brown patina to surfaces that also retain ample bright orange luster. The latter feature is more extensive on the obverse, although both sides are uniformly well struck with razor sharp detail throughout the design. A few light carbon spots are all that seem to preclude an even higher numeric grade. Provenance: From the Lux Family Collection, begun as early as the 1850s. PCGS# 1163. NGC ID: 222Z.
