- 1856-O Liberty Half Eagle. EF-45 (PCGS). Pleasing orange-gold with a touch of copper toning on both the obverse and reverse of this scarce date. The mintage of 10,000 pieces has been reduced to something around 100 to 200 today. Most are in lower grades and less eye appealing. The strike is better than average as a couple of the first stars lack their radials, but most are crisp as well as Liberty's hair curls. Some softness in definition on the eagle's neck.
