Lot Description

Both die pairings of this issue are Repunched Dates - an unusual situation in the classic U.S. Mint Proof series. Snow PR-1, represented here, accounts for the majority of survivors from a mintage of 1,817 pieces, and it is better produced than PR2. The latter also exists in circulation strike format, and was probably pushed into Proof production to meet a sudden increase in demand at some point during the year. Offered is a richly original premium Gem with vivid cobalt blue, salmon pink and bright apricot-orange colors shining through an overlay of bold olive-brown patina.
