- Lot Description
- 1870 Pattern Half Dollar. Judd-941, Pollock-1068. Rarity-7-. Proof-64 BN (PCGS). Copper. Reeded edge. Capped Liberty head with three starred tiara right, legends around. STANDARD reverse, with denomination and date at center, "Wreath of Cereals" around. A very striking example with boldly reflective mirrored fields that immediately catch the eye. A fine satin frost on the central devices. Medium golden brown with elements of sea green, rose and blue. Outstanding eye appeal and among the few finest pieces seen by PCGS. The finest graded is a single Proof-65 BN, and this coin may well challenge it for eye appeal.
