- Obv: The same design that the Mint used to strike regular issue 1865 Liberty Seated quarters. Rev: The design type adopted for regular issue Liberty Seated quarter production in 1866 with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST on a scroll above the eagle. Delicate obverse toning in golden-silver with light speckling of peripheral russet, the reverse is more boldly toned in slightly mottled reddish-apricot. This is a fully struck specimen with a nicely cameoed finish. About a dozen examples of this popular transitional pattern type are known per the uspatterns.com website. A few were produced in 1865, while most are restrikes circa 1869 into the early 1870s for distribution to collectors as part of pattern Proof sets.
