Lot Description
THE B.S.T. COLLECTION As often told, the mintages of half dollars dropped dramatically following the passage of the Bland Allison Act in 1878. The mintage of half dollars amounted to 4,800 pieces and the current borderline SUPERB coin is a fabulous survivor. Flashy and boldly reflective luster dances across brilliant, mostly untoned surfaces. As close to a full Prooflike as you will see outside of a PL holder. A dusting of clear gold is backlit by the brilliance, making the color pop off the surfaces. The devices are sharply rendered by an exacting blow from the dies. There are some very minor contact marks that keep it out of a MS67 holder from a technical standpoint, but from the eye appeal stand point this coin is nothing less than SUPERB. PCGS 46, NGC 37, CAC 17. There are 11 in MS66+ at PCGS and NONE of these have ever sold in auction. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $10,000. Our consignor purchased this coin privately from Legend Numismatics back in April 2008 and has remained in this collection since then. RARE finer. Cert. Number 13036950 PCGS # 6361
