- Both the maker’s mark, G, and the date appear beneath the head of Liberty on this prooflike deep yellow-gold specimen. Wisps of pale olive and sky-blue iridescence on both sides add to the overall eye appeal. Maker: Robert B. Gray & Co., active 1858-1871; successors to Antoine Louis Nouizillet. Edge: Crudely reeded.
Die Alignment: 180° or coin turn.
Die State: Just one state reported; arcing obverse die crack at stars 5 and 6.
