Lot Description
1903-S Morgan Silver Dollar. MS-65 (NGC). Outstanding Gem Mint quality for this key date Morgan dollar issue. Bright and beautiful, the surfaces are untoned to allow ready appreciation of lively satin to softly frosted luster. Sharply struck with strong visual appeal. Elusive in all grades, the 1903-S Morgan dollar has a limited mintage of just 1,241,000 pieces. Many of those coins are believed to have been melted under the terms of the 1918 Pittman Act, with the result that Mint State survivors are particularly scarce in numismatic circles. At the assigned grade level the present example is nothing short of rare from a condition standpoint. Provenance: From the Claudia St John Collection. NGC Census: 37; 10 finer in this category (MS-67 finest). PCGS# 7288. NGC ID: 256T. Click here for certification details from NGC.
