1820 Matron Head Cent. N-13. Rarity-1. MS-66 RB (NGC). Although a generally available die pairing thanks to the Randall Hoard, which contained 1,000s of examples of this date (and others), mostly spotty and bagmarked Mint State pieces. The present coin is differentiated in two critical facts, first off, there are no spots or stains--and secondly the condition is simply spectacular. The color is faded mint Red to tan with full luster in the fields. Remarkably well struck, this variety shows crisp hair detail (compared with other dates and varieties from the Randall Hoard) and should be considered as the primary choice for a type collector as such. Incredible quality for this Hoard issue, unsurpassed as well.
