Lot Description: 1652 Massachusetts Bay Colony Oak Tree Sixpence. W-360, Noe-16, Crosby 6-F. Rarity-5. IN on Reverse. VF-25 (PCGS). As befits the die marriage, this piece is well centered in strike with all devices at least partially present on the planchet. A few of the peripheral devices are a bit off the flan, and the outer border of beads is missing. In terms of wear we note moderate rub to both sides, the obverse with a few areas worn nearly smooth due to uneven circulation. The reverse is much bolder and quite sharp overall, and both sides exhibit pleasingly original toning in a blend of dove-gray, lavender-gray and medium-gray colors. Very nice at the lower reaches of VF.
