- 117.4 grains. Another nice example of this distinctive and scarce variety, with smoother surfaces than the previous piece. Despite its lesser sharpness, many specialists may prefer this one; Mr. August preferred the sharpness of the previous piece to the better color and surfaces of this one. Glossy medium brown, not perfectly smooth but not far from it. Some old encrustation is seen around obverse design elements, along with a bit of peripheral granularity. A few marks are seen, including some old short scratches hidden in the king's hair and a scratch atop NIA on the reverse. A few specks of verdigris sit harmlessly in the reverse exergue. A sharp and attractive piece, one that may deserve a place in the Condition Census, listed in the HRT book as "VF-25 to EF-45."
