- Handsome and fully original EF preservation for this eagerly sought Newman number. Both sides have a subtle circulated cameo appearance, the fields toned in warm steely-copper with hints of rose, design elements lighter in tan-brown. A couple of tiny planchet flaws at upper left obverse border are as made, there are no marks or other blemishes of consequence on surfaces that are smooth apart from a hint of roughness to the reverse. Centering is good, just a tad off to 1 o'clock on the obverse, with all major design elements bold and the all-important stars on the reverse label fully discernible, although the upper one is typically sharper than the other. Struck from the usually seen broken state of the obverse; early state of the reverse without the breaks that develop later. This really is a lovely piece, just right for a high grade circulated type set or Fugio cent collection.
