Lot Description
R-7+. 4-6 Minted. Struck in aluminum with a plain edge. Superb in every respect! Superior mirrors have no real oxidation to see. They do have hidden die cracks and planchet defects that can only be seen with a strong glass (typical to aluminum coins). The mirrors are also very deep and have strong clarity. Miss Liberty and the details are needle sharp in strike and are thickly frosted. The eye appeal is great! PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. This is the FINEST J-747. Back in 2008 when he bought that mega pattern collection for $36 million, Mr. Simpson paid $13,000 for this jewel. If this were an 1869 PCGS PR66 Cameo CAC Seated Liberty half dollar, today it would bring $10,000-$12,000 easy. It is our strong opinion, that a great pattern like this of a beautiful design that could have been is are cheap today, and make for a great value! PCGS # 392309 Cert. Number 30936378 PCGS # 392309
