1906 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. JD-1, the only known dies. Rarity-4. Proof-62 (PCGS). Highlights of pinkish-rose enhance otherwise olive-orange surfaces for this handsome specimen. Appreciably mirrored in the fields, the design elements are fully impressed with a more frosty texture to the finish. More than 176,000 circulation strike quarter eagles were made in 1906, but only a total of 160 coins were struck in Proof. Survivors from the latter delivery are scarce and number just 100 to 120 in all grades (per John W. Dannreuther, 2018). PCGS# 7932. NGC ID: 288W. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
