- 1856 Braided Hair Cent. N-11. Rarity-1. Noyes Die State B/A. Upright 5. MS-66 BN (NGC).
Boldly lustrous deep golden-brown on the obverse with a pleasing blend of mint orange and golden-tan on the reverse, the mint orange in dominance. Lively neon-blue iridescence springs to life in a bold light source, especially on the reverse. One of just two examples of Newcomb-11 called MS-66 BN by NGC, see below. Choice for the grade and laden with eye appeal. NGC Census: 2; none finer within the BN designation. NGC has certified over two dozen Upright 5 examples of the date at MS-66, a figure which includes BN, RB, and RD specimens, including many listed that are not N-11.
