Lot Description
FROM THE CULLEN B COLLECTION Here is a very high end, exceptional, frosty, lustrous example of the popular 80-CC dollar. Thick, white silver frosty texture graces the sharply struck design elements. The brilliant mint luster has quite a bit of flash in the fields that contrasts nicely with the frosty white sharply struck devices. A few stray traces of contact can be seen, accounting for the assigned grade. The eye appeal is very high end for grade and is a delight to behold. PCGS 249, NGC 66, CAC 37. PCGS has assigned the MS65+ grade 20 times. The current PCGS value is listed at $1,600 and the only PCGS/CAC example to sell this year brought $1,560 in the 2019 ANA auction. Fewer than 90 have been graded finer and the value jumps to over $3,000 for CAC-approved examples. This GEM has a great look and will appeal to any collector of Morgan dollars. Cert. Number 34406613 PCGS # 007104
