Lot Description

1786 New Jersey Copper. Maris 23-R, W-4945. Rarity-3. Narrow Shield, Curved Plow Beam. VF-25 (PCGS). Deep golden-tan surfaces exhibit a trace of olive toning here and there. No marks of any measure are picked up by the naked eye, and a glass displays nothing more than some central obverse and reverse roughness that was in the planchet when struck. Minimally off-center on both sides though not affecting the design elements in any way. An absolutely pleasing example of the variety and grade combination, and a coin that would do justice to any mid-range New Jersey copper cabinet currently being formed.
