Losbeschreibung: An incredibly desirable example with bright silver-white surfaces. Well struck for the issue with appreciable reflectivity to the finish. PCGS and NGC combined list just 10 grading events finer than AU-58 in this category, confirming the incredible rarity of this issue with Prooflike qualities. With a mere 450,000 coins struck the 1895-O boasts one of the lowest mintages among circulation strike Morgan dollars. Most examples were retained in federal vaults and melted later, although more than 100,000 pieces probably entered commercial channels and account for the typically encountered worn survivor in today's market. Choice AU and Mint State coins have always been elusive in numismatic circles, and when offered at all are apt to display poor striking quality and/or unattractive surfaces. The present offering clearly represents a fleeting bidding opportunity not to be overlooked.
